Frank Ocean Shares Two New Heartbreaking Records: ‘Dear April’ + ‘Cayendo’

Drake is the man with the extremely calculated plan to always thrive on the charts. After you reach the level that an artist like Drake is on, any music you drop can gain commercial success with little to no effort. When October’s Very Own dropped his last full length project Scorpion in 2018, the double album affair quickly garnered millions of streams and record breaking sales weeks with ease. Singles like “God’s Plan” and “Nice For What” quickly reached massive acclaim and the anticipation for more Drake lines to use on IG or scream to during a tequila soaked night could be felt by anyone with even the slightest interest on what’s poppin in the mainstream world

Ryan Beatty Releases Gorgeous 'Casino' Music Video

“Casino” is the third single from his now released sophomore effort Dreaming Of David and as soon as that acoustic guitar started strumming, I knew Mr. Beatty was about to captivate my 2020 as well. The mesmerizing visual directed by Jason Lester perfectly captures the dreamlike feel of the somber track about a lonely night in a hotel casino. As Ryan reflects under a dreamy sunset or sings in the backseat of a moving car, Lester’s artistic editing choices and stable shots beautifully let everything unfold while adding another dimension to “Casino”. “Love me to death or don’t give me anything,” hits even deeper when you watch Ryan wander around a desert and try to sort his feelings out.

Frank Ocean Shares Two New Heartbreaking Records: ‘Dear April’ + ‘Cayendo’

Frank Ocean commands my attention whenever he releases new music. Whether it be him flexing his rap skills about his pretty muse on “Chanel” or letting Tyler, The Creator use his warm vocals on a Flower Boy cut, my excitement for new Frank music never ceases. So when I clicked on Spotify and found out that the Blonde singer quietly released two singles, I took a deep breath and prepared to have them on repeat all night. “Dear April” and “Cayendo” premiered late October in 2019 during Frank’s PrEP+ night club event in NYC. I vaguely remember hating my life a little more than usual that night because I decided to go to work instead of trying to get into the party promoting safe sex but alas let’s get back to what really matters… two acoustic songs to sob to.
